Reading and Sewing (Middle School Only, Rising 6th through 8th)

-Exploration of the history of sewing and its impact on the world

-Instruction and coaching in how to sew, beginning with basic needle and thread

-Sewing as a metaphor for making smart uses of resources and embracing the power to create

-Learning to stitch together wonderful stories and discovery of sewing in great works of literature

-Respectful staff with high expectations and effective technique

-At least two hours of direct reading, writing and spelling instruction daily

-Introduction to age- and developmentally-appropriate text

-Opportunities to earn incentive rewards, including new books, for effort and progress

-Morning and afternoon snack provided daily AND a camp t-shirt for each session attended
